I suppose you get what you pay for. Blueberry pie pure and simple. It befuddles me why these large American producers can't make an everyday wine with nuanced complexity and flavor notes other than pure fruit.
Shame on you Chateau Ste. Michelle! You should expend some R&D dollars eastward to the South of France, Italy or Spain. It can't be that difficult. For example, visa Chateau Haut Selve in Graves which makes a lovely blent of Merlot and Cabernet, retailing in the US for about $22.00. Quite broad -- smile producing width accompanied by black peppery tannins. Just a hint of oak on the finish. 12% alcohol - can't be this! CSM, at least try!

Tasted on day 2. Nice spicy red berry fruits. Some drying oak and tannins provide grip. I'm getting more oak than the last bottle? Maybe the fruit faded a bit on day 2? Wish they would dial back the oak here even more as it is masking some of the fruit here. Still very nice and long a persistent finish.
