January birthday craziness (Chicago, IL): While I'm all for oak in my white Burgundy, sometimes it can still be overdone, and I think this is one example. Sweet and oily, with an inordinate amount of oak here. The only saving grace here is the vintage, which at least leaves this wine with some acidic leanness.

$79.99 retail, before discount. slightly subdued nose of spice, minerals and light apple. On the palate, rather spicy, with yellow fruit. Nice minerality. Well-balanced. Nice ripeness and acidity. Impressive.
