  • I bagged on a DDLC recently, but this one delivered. Savory with just the right amount of sweet. Built for food and built to last.

  • Memorius indeed. This wine was opened alongside a 2010 Melville Terraces and held up decently, but the Melville held up more. Both wines are whole cluster. Both wines are firmly iny wheelhouse. The Melville was ready to rock, whereas the Côte was still in the final stages. Brooding red fruit, brambly black cherry fruit punch but didn't get as dark as the Melville. Funeral flowers on the finish. White pepper on the finish, subdued. Goes to show you that age is everything, as these wines are maybe 30 miles tops from each other, but 6 years difference. A really good Pinot but IMO needs 3-4 years with whole cluster fermentation to really develop a broad palate and position.

  • Well, I think I slightly underestimated this wine last time. Same overall flavor characteristics but copious powdery tannins were more evident this time, giving the wine just that little extra structure and ooomph. Really nice PN. Bumping the score a notch because it just seemed to sing a little more tonight.

  • Big cherry scents on the edge of jammy, along with a little kola nut and clove. Has enough acidity to keep it going over the edge. I preferred this to La Cote slightly, for this seemed to have a little more backbone. Maybe just my mood. A straight up delicious CA Pinot without a lot of complexity but also no excesses or faults.
