  • A small parcel from a Clarendon Vineyard home of the famous Clarendon Hills Astralis Syrah.
Adam Barton sources his grapes from various vineyards in South Australia but this is the first from the Clarendon area of Mclaren vale.
At first on the nose it reveals bready/yeasty notes unfolding after a while into light oak, some tiny bit of alcohol, nothing offensive and nothing out of balance.
On the tongue slight acid to the front, light tannin to the sides a firm clean finish with some fruit on the middle .
Indications are that this wine is finely balanced and perhaps will improve for another couple of years maybe adding a point or two , but I will revisit this in about 6 months.
hard to find anything wrong with this wine it is deep in colour and medium in body an excellent wine that retails at $45.00AU

    I'm dropping it a point.
Still very lively astringent /alcohol showing.
Does not seem to be improving at this point
