  • Slightly developed and somewhat translucent black cherry color. Quite dry and savory nose with attractive aromas of fresh blackcurrants, ripe red fruits, some smoky character, a little bit of earthy spice and an understated hint of integrated, savory oak. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and enjoyably acid-driven with bright flavors of fresh dark berries, tart cranberries, some earthy spice, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness and a hint of savory, woody oak spice. While the acidity lends some welcome freshness to the wine, the overall mouthfeel is rather soft and round, thanks to the gentle, well-manicured tannins. The finish is dry, moderately bitter and quite crunchy with flavors of tart red fruits, some herbal bitterness, a little bit of leafy green character and a hint of earthiness.

An enjoyable, balanced and nicely more savory than sweetly-fruited Bordeaux blend. Not a particularly ambitious wine, but perfectly enjoyable for a classic, old-world-styled red. Although not particularly tannic, still the dry fruit flavors, high acidity and moderate bitterness might make the wine feel a bit too angular if enjoyed on its own. A reliable everyday food wine, good value at 13,31€.

  • Op aanraden van de Perswijn selectie gekocht. Vond toch wat simpel. De bordeaux grand rolland beviel bijvoorbeeld beter!
