  • Again, such an interesting wine. Very N. Rhone with a waxy lanolin feel and taut stone fruits. Very fun. The wine is not exactly giving, you must come to it. Give the wine some air or time and I suspect you'll be happy.

  • I, too am somewhat puzzled by this wine. Opened around 5pm and then tasted over the next 6 hours. I usually love Fiano but this one is different than most I have had. It is a beautiful bright golden yellow color but the nose is rather smokey and tight with some hibiscus, lots of stony pebbles and limestone. It is dense yet lean and minerally. On the palate there is some stone fruit along with the various elements in the nose. There is a smoked almond taste on the finish that doesn’t seem to work for me. I think it needs a good bit of time in the cellar and in a decanter. But tonight this seemed a bit disjointed and like some of the elements were fighting with each other. A bit of a puzzlement.

P.S. I saved one glass and had it 2 evenings later and it was really much better. I now think that the smokey notes which were pretty dominant early may have been sulphur/reduction that needed air to disapate. It has much rounder more vibrant ant fruit later. So, time in cellar and decanter are a must for this wine I think! (89-91)

  • Difficult wine to understand. Super tight out of the bottle with only rocks to show. Slowly developed but showed best a day later with mineral stone fruit / lovely subtle nuttiness. Finely structured and well made. Anxious to pop another bottle; this time with ample aeration, though a year or two more in bottle is probably called for.
