Gorgeous nose of oolong tea, rose petal, and ripe strawberry. Some orange peel and rubber bouncy ball. Really vibrant and lively. Nice explosion of acidity on the back-end. Concentrated. Nice weight. Bright fruit, herbs, citrus on the palate. A touch of pepper. Dark garnet fading at the rim, still tastes fresh and age-worthy.

Lacking in fruit and acidic. How do you make a Gamay taste this disjointed? What happened? Interested to know if he went a different winemaking direction in 2018 & 2019

consistent with my previous tasting note, what stood out to me most was the depth of the dark tart fruit (black cherry? boysenberry?) and the overall heavier body of the wine.

tldr: darker and bigger in body than any gamay i’ve had before (albeit have not had that many). need a little bit of air for it to open up. fruit is both tart and deep/rich, with seamless balance of the acid and alcohol providing lift. strong showing. Color: med purple Nose: soft, not overly fragrant, notes of violet and ripe black fruit, dusty bark, faint oak Body: med, silky Acid: high Alcohol: guessed 12.5%; actual 13% Palate: tart, dark fruited, deep and pronounced, damp earth; acid and alcohol cut through to provide a nice backbone and balance; lingering finish that is lighter and floral

Full of fruit on nose - berries, cherry - right amount of acid. Quite a nice bottle to share.
