A: Pale to medium ruby with some purple highlights N: Rubber, PETROLEUM, eucalyptus, blackberry, green pepper, TONNES OF BITTER CHARCOAL (might be what wine folly book calls 'graphite'), clove. Developing and pronounced nose. P: Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) alcohol (13.5%), medium (+) body, pronounced intensity and medium finish. C: Out of balance with the charcoal and petroleum smell so insanely dominant. Acceptable quality. Drink now....if you must!
GUESSES: New World owing to fruit forward nature. Thought it was a warm climate owing to slightly stewed nature of blackberries. Bitter Charcoal put me at Carmeneres door. 1-3 years old owing to purple highlights. Final guess, Carmenere from Chile. Btw, gran Reserva indicates high alcohol than Reserva and maybe more maturation but the latter is undefined. Not a useful term in Chile.
