Retail $50. 505 Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir. It has been a few years since I have popped one of these and while I certainly like this wine, I am not quite as enthralled with it this time around. Yellow, nearly golden in the glass with baked pear and apple on the nose. The palate is rather austere with some fruit and a distinct yeasty component. Like I said, this is quite good, but just lacking the balance that I expect in a superior champagne.
Very nice Brut. The Chardonnay dominates the Pinot character here with piercing acidity and citrus fruit. Limited yeasty character and generally not showing a ton of complexity. It is, however, well balanced and drinks extremely well with food.

Not bad. But, no great shakes: plenty of other superior choices at this price point.

Initial notes of mushroom and some softer more tropical fruits evolved into a more youthful, soft, lemony texture. Really good on New Year’s Eve.
