  • This is a fun bottle of wine . . . and I learned about a new (new to me) grape. Rkatsiteli is actually an ancient grape native to the Caucasus Mountains between Turkey and Armenia. It's grown primarily in Russia and Eastern Europe, but also in the Finger Lakes region of New York, and apparently, right here in Virginia at Horton Vineyards. This bottle reminds me a bit of Riesling with its slate nose and flavors of lime. Lingering pineapple on the finish. Refreshing, crisp acidity makes this a very food friendly wine. Salud!

  • I'm tasting from a bottle that has been open and under Argon Gas for several days. It's still full of flavor, a combination of flowers and a forest floor in Spring. A toasty flavor like enoki mushrooms fried crisp in butter. A lingering Gala apple in the cheeks. Very pleasant.
