100% Cabernet from Central Victoria, 115km inland and north of Melbourne.
Medium-full bodied, very ripe plum and blackberry forward. Tannins remarkably soft from the gentle hand plunging, and 70% used French and American hogsheads (22 months).
Bold yet such great balance with the acidity which lifts this wine. Pretty much in its prime now, with beautiful contrasting juicy acidity and that signature long fruit finish.
Entirely from WDCE Wild Duck Creek Estate's Northern vineyards at Colbinnabbin. Comes from at least 2 sites in the Eastern slopes, and 1 other site too. Says so on the rear label! They think of it as the sister to Springflat Shiraz. David "Duck" Anderson recommends that this wine is good for cellaring for up to 15 years.
Great value at USD 45. Quiet dinner at home tonight ❤️ My last bottle, gotta restock again!

Wonderful pop and pour wine, so good right from the word go with its balanced power, luscious mouthfeel and it pairs so well with our home-cooked Beef Bourgogne.
100% Cab, 22 months in 30% new French and American hogsheads. Blackberries and rich concentrated plum on the palate with cedar. Beautifully balanced acidity, dusty tannins.
At just over USD 40 this is very fairly priced, and I love that it's aged so well and mellowed yet not lost how interesting this wine is compared to the 2021 we had at Duck Dinner!
