A little neutral to soft, color is good. Nose is slightly there, not the power from years past. Not showing tertiary flavors and kind of in an in between state.

Really hitting its stride. Aired in the bottle for about 30 minutes, it opened up to big aromas of chocolate, black cherries, blueberry and gravel. Very big mouthfeel with well integrated tannins, dark fruits, licorice and black pepper on a very long finish.

Wow this really outperforms its price tag in the B Cellars lineup. Needed about 2-3 hours to completely open up and integrate. My overall flavor impression was chocolate covered raspberries dusted with cocoa powder. Lovely hefty mouthfeel but with balancing acidity and fine tannins that keep it lively. Long long finish. This was a wow wine on this night.

Couldn't wait to try this wine and the most approachable of the '16 B Cabs so took a Coravin glass, letting it sit for about an hour in the glass. Deep dark purple in color. Subdued aromas of nutmeg, leather and iodine. Pronounced tannins but not overwhelming. Dusty as expected for an unfiltered Rutherford cab, with some dark fruits a little overpowered by the tannins. On the hot side with licorice and cracked black pepper on the finish.
