I have been a big fan of Peay’s wines for a long time, but this is really a treat, and drinking so beautifully right now. Medium ruby-venturing-towards-garnet in the glass; brickish rim showing the age. On the nose, cherry and pomegranate along with menthol, raisin, cola, and just a hint of something meatier or umami - soy, perhaps? On the palate, this is a delightfully balanced, elegant wine, with medium body, med-low tannins (and soft and gentle ones at that), medium/high acidity, and moderate alcohol in balance. The finish is lovely and really long-lasting.
Perfect pairing with red wine-braised salmon with mushrooms and sunchoke puree. Magical.
