This has been sitting in my rack for a couple of years. After trying the 2018 and not being so thrilled with it, I thought I better open this to compare.

The 2015 was a different animal altogether. Where the 2018 felt tired already, with raisin-y flavors on the finish, the 2015 was fresh with a nice grip. Aromatically, it was certainly old world with a mix of red fruits, but also cassis and plum with a good dose of leather and forest undergrowth. On the palate there was a lovely herbal quality; very mint-like and with a bit of espresso. The finish was rather short, but altogether a nice wine, especially for the price ~$25 (but this was a gift from friends)

I wasn’t home for dinner for a few nights, so I sealed this with a Vacuvin and refrigerated it. Even so, on the 21st the wine had that unpleasant mushroomy oxidized flavor, so I would drink soon-ish rather than holding for much longer.

  • Decanted for an hour
    Paired with sharp blue cheese
Nice BDX blend that's drinkable now

  • May be worth a point or two more once tannins resolve. Currently tannins are dominant. Needs time. Addendum: Much better on day 2. Fruit makes an appearance. Needs time in bottle or a long decant.

Smooth, long and elegant, drinks beautifully. Very nice BDX. Medium weight.
(Had the 2011 regular a few years ago and liked that too, but didn't write a TN).

  • Cabernet Sauvignon 60% and Merlot 40%

Medium to full body, deep garnet color. Elegant black fruits, cigar box, spicy and herbal aroma. Expressing black currants and plummy palate, lingering juicy finish with dark chocolate notes. Rich but velvety and easy drinking, complex with fine balanced between refreshing acidity and still muscular tannins. Food friendly, tasted with Mediterranean salads and light sheep cheeses. Serve 17º - 22º. Open about two hours ahead. Drink now while young and next eight years.
