While nothing spectacular this wine is pleasant enough week day drinking and still pretty fresh. There are distinct primary savoury/red berry flavours and I reckon it will go until at least 2013.

Tasting through 3 cheap Chapoutiers; 11/15/2008-11/18/2008 (Home): Popped and poured, allowed to sit in the glass for about 30 min. Appearance: a ruby red with a violet tinged edge (4/5). Nose: not very strong, but pleasantly fruity, with red fruits like cherry, also a hint of leather and a whiff of vanilla in the background (11/15). Palate: very nice, rounded red fruits, just a hint of tannins and a fairly short finish (14/20). Overall: I was expecting a bit of a dead soldier, but in fact this is much better than before! Apparently a year in the cellar has done good to this wine, despite it being an 8 euro wine. Nothing spectacular, but certainly enjoyable (7/10).
Dark violet red, with hints of vanilla amidst black berries on the nose. On the palate rather aggressive with some tannins and alcohol evident. An ok wine, needs food to go with.
