  Retailer tasting. Inky dark ruby, almost purple in colour. Ripe red and dark fruit and spices on the ripe, concentrated nose. Equally ripe and full on the palate, with ripe red and dark fruit, spices, vanilla and well-integrated oak masking the wine's good, mineral backbone. Smooth texture, with ripe tannin and enough acidity, even if the alcohol came through towards the end. Clearly not my preferred style, too ripe for me. Good, but it’s boldness and ripeness covers some of its flaws, notably its shorter than expected length in the context of the price. I liked the 2013 better as it was more elegant and more complete.
