dark ruby with violet overtones; aromatic, violets, raspberry, plum, earth, cedar; tart cherry skins, stony minerality, finishing with nice tanning grip; light bodied, crunchy acidity, moderate gritty tannins, 12% ABV; made from 100% Schioppettino from 2016 and 2017 vintages, sourced from their home vineyard in Western Oak Knoll area of Napa Valley, destemmed and crushed, fermented in very small stainless steel tanks, pressed after 2 weeks on the skins, aged in neutral barrels; p$50

Bright, fresh, ready to drink. First impression is white pepper and red fruit. Not much tannin. Nice finish and went well with our Italian dishes. Day two - pepper went away.

I am not sure what to think about this wine. First off, I have essentially zero experience with Schioppettino, so there are no preset expectations. first sip, and it's all grapey freshness. It's so grapey it's really a shock. A few minutes later it settles down a bit, thought it remains primarily essence of grapes. Some herbal nuances come in, and there is good purity. Light to medium bodied, with very little tannin, makes it quite easy to drink. It's just really different. I would like to try one again some time, but with a little more bottle age, to see what it settles into.

High acid. Cherry fruit. Moderate tannins. Delicious wine. Not a "typical" Schioppettino
