Unusual nose of black and blue fruits layered with a "funk" of yeast, spice, and a touch of Brett. Dark purple black fruit palate shows the Petite Sirah, but then the spice brings in the other grapes - adding notions of lilac, mace, dry cinnamon, old chiles. Firm, warm finish without anything angular, the purple fruit drifting into some sort of soft wood that doesn't taste like oak.

Improved some since the last bottle. Dirty socks on the nose, clearly a natural wine. I'm sure there's no sulfur but it actually smelled of that initially. The palate has some candied dark plum and comes across as both soft and bright. Decant the hell out of it, shake it up, and let that fruit shine. No reason to hold
60% petite syrah, 20% mourvedre, 10% carignan, 10% something else, look on the back :)

Omg this was delicious. Drank with Mexican spiced seitan over salad with a verde salsa and Greek yogurt dressing. A perfect, although unorthodox, marriage.

If you were looking for a decent, all purpose, inoffensive, frankly nondescript red that appeals to all tastes for an outdoor summer event, this would do fine. I wouldn't buy it again.

I recall that when I first drank this a few months ago, I thought it was a little funky but not bad. This time around it was just a disappointingly cherry-ish grape drink.
