WisconnSomm Sommer Camp. Gorgeous secondary flavors, melange of red and black fruit. More black fruited. Dried herbs. Thyme, and sage. Some barrel, but not in an offensive way. Really complete. Held its own against some really heavy hitters. Super.

Tasted s by s with '97. The '98 had better composure and deeper stuffing than the '97. Both great wines in their own right, but '98 is drinking better than the '97. Both still solid wines, but I like the structure of '98 vs the bombastic nature of '97. Aromatically, '98 is magic too.

Impressively more fruit than I thought it would have. I bought two bottles of this and I don't think the other bottle had this much fruit and believe it was more Ash and pipe tobacco. The cork disintegrated, but the seal was intact. Had to decant and strain, so this one was on a bit of a fast track. Started out with aged raspberry, "funeral flowers" and a bit of soil and mushroom. Picked up a tiny bit of pepper on the finish. All in all, very enjoyable wine. I think this one probably even has a few more years left. But, this is a good wine to pop and enjoy right now. A week in Napa for the Napa Valley Grape Growers Harvest STOMP party; 8/22/2017-8/27/2017 (Napa, CA): Tasting visit with the Snowden Family at the ranch. Poured from magnum over dinner. Fully mature and showing beautifully. Mature dark fruit, cedar and forest floor with a well rounded mouthfeel.

First bottle was surprisingly fresh and decanted into something quite complex with notes of raspberry and leather.
Second bottle was degraded.
Both bottles corks totally disintegrated when I removed them.
