Fantastic showing for a petit chateau from a strong vintage. At 17 years of age, this is developing secondary notes, but still shows freshness and a robust tannic backbone. Shows fresh plums, tobacco, cassis, pencil lead, black cherry skin, and a little oak. Color is fresh and shows no signs of precipitating polymers. No rush to drink, and should develop further.

Another bottle after one enjoyed on 26 July (cf. my TN from that date). Consistent color, nose, and body--continues to please with some years of life left: solid notable+ in my rating system.

Bought 6b for 10/b from Sam's during its last days in the late summer of '09--one of its measures to liquidate stock at bargain prices. One of our favourites from the Castillon appellation. Decanted with normal sediment. Beautiful color; fragrant, red fruit/merlot nose; very good mouthfeel, rich; decent finish. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I consider this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

A nice simple wine...very light all around and balanced, but it seems most of the fruit has departed. I'd probably drink these up by the end of the year.

This wine took a while for the tannins to lay down but is now very drinkable. Nice nose, subtle fruit, and a smooth finish.
