  • After all the recent reviews, I was expecting the worst. But this was very good. Didn’t hang around longer than 90 mins but very well balanced for a 20 y/o Aussie Shiraz. I wouldn’t wait but don’t dread opening it.

  • Cork crumbled upon opening. Needed to be filtered to remove remnants. Heavy sediment in the bottle. Brick red color. Upon opening still good fruit characteristics. Dried fruits and dried herbs and some graphite on the nose. A definite raisin like character. Boisonberry, and prune flavors with some menthol early after opening. Tannins are soft but still present. Medium acidity. It's appeal deteriorated after an hour. The fruit flavors give way to more earthy notes with a some bitterness on the finish. Definitely past it's prime, but still a pleasant offering.

  • From 75cl, fill into neck. Brittle, slimy cork, firmly adhering to the bottle neck, required intensive work to extract with ah-so, corkscrew and various excavating instruments before filtering off a carpet of cork detritus. Heavy deposit left in bottle. Served immediately, the wine deteriorated over subsequent hour. Still a very acceptable drink, but muffled after so long in contact with its faulty closure, and so unlike any other Dead Arm I can remember. At its best: Concentrated, luscious blackberry fruit, bright currant acidity, nicely furry tannins not yet fully resolved. 88P in this condition, but surely the wine in this bottle would have shown in a different league had it been bottled under screwcap. • No detailed notes. Cork broke and crumbled but there was no sign of leakage. Nice deep color with a moderately complex nose and rather rugged palate impression. Perhaps this is now in decline.

  • Opened this at my brother's new home over dinner with my family. We had food from Pu Tien and Colin's.

One of my favourites which has consistently delivered quality and value over the years. Dark brooding red with a tinge of inky purple.

On the nose, captivating bouquet of blackberries, plums, and dark cherries, intertwined with alluring notes of black pepper, eucalyptus, and a touch of mocha. The aromas are intriguing intense and complex.

On the palate the power and harmony co-existed perfectly. A symphony of ripe black fruits, including blackberry, plum, and cassis, complemented by hints of dark chocolate, licorice, and an intriguing earthiness danced effortlessly on the palate.

Structure still holding very well at 18 years of age, with velvety tannins that provide a luxurious mouthfeel and a sense of elegance. The balance between fruit, acidity, and oak is superb, and the wine exhibits a remarkable length that lingers on the palate, leaving a lasting impression.

    Extraordinary, and highly recommended.
