  • Blind, I probably would have guessed Anderson Valley. More cherry than usual, and less earth and dried leaves than usual, for an OR PN. Good acidity. Varietally correct, if not particularly exciting. Should drink well for 4-5 yrs, maybe more. Drank better after some air contact.

  • This is very good, actually better than the Reserve. But my favorite of the three was the Origins Eola-Amity. All 2016.

  • PnP this with an early Thanksgiving dinner. Delicate aromas and a nice mix of fruit, spice, and earth on the palate. Last bottle I gave too much air. This is ready to drink and doesn't require any extra air now imo.

  • Popped and poured the 2016 Soter Pinot Noir North Valley Origin Series Dundee Hills. The initial impressions were very positive. The nose was reminiscent of strawberries and wild berries and had a softness to it similar to the smell after an early summer rain. It tasted faintly of both red berries and blue fruit with a delicate earthiness and a bit of tartness on the medium length finish. Didn't pick up any spices. It seemed very nicely balanced. At this point I would rate it something around 93 and maybe the best pinot I've had. (I'm very inexperienced.) My wife had similar impressions and she really loved it and asked hopefully if we had more bottles.

Put the rest in a decanter and into the fridge for a few hours.

Took it out, poured a glass, and let it start to warm. Drank this second glass with a dinner of beef tenderloin steak, sauteed balsamic mushrooms, broccoli, and steamed turnip. It seemed like a different wine. The nose was similar but stronger but had developed a slight perfume/hint of band-aid to it. It tasted more fruity, now more red fruit, but it seemed a little cloying and maybe a touch synthetic. It also now tasted a little sweet and the acid was more prominent. It was faintly reminiscent of a cali pinot that I had tried and hated (but not anywhere near as off-putting as that cali pinot). It seemed out of balance. I would score this something like 86.

The last glass I had about an hour after dinner. It was closer to the second glass than the first, but better and not as in your face. It was ok.
