Charred bacon fat, sois bois, black cherry, damp moss, stewed cranberry, walnut. Full body pinot. Rich and dark w/ sufficient acid and silky, robust tannin. Very nice.

Medium purple ruby and forms numerous thin legs. The nose has a lot of umami and fat. After that I get cranberries, pomegranate, baking spices, and some cherries. Medium-light bodied, dry, and balanced acidity. This is not a fruit forward California Pinot, the subtleties of the oak aging shine just as much. Palate follows the nose and adds raspberries, and I get a lot of black pepper on the mid palate. I get some green vegetable notes every now and then, but hard to pin down. Tannins are light and silky smooth. Oak is very well integrated. Medium-long black pepper, mineral, and tart cranberry finish. As I consumed more, I got a tomato leaf/lettuce note developing on the finish.
If it makes sense, this wine tastes like a bold but somehow feminine Burgundy. Iron Horse Pinot Noirs have always tasted great to me and this is no exception. I just wish the price were better on them.

Typically great iron horse Pinot. Just the right amount of structure.
