Chardonnay Round Table with Emile Joubert (Chamonix Wine Estate): (Tasted Blind): Again some dishcloth and damp oak nuances along with rubber gloves all make an appearance of rot indicating some reduction. However, this time they only slightly give way to ripe yellow apples and some yellow flowers. The palate continues the trend of the reduction, revealing elements of cordite and classic struck-match qualities. I usually like this style, but this seemed too much at this time. The acid is crisp and vibrant suggesting some early picked fruit? There was some tightness to the mid-palate with floral notes and a sense of elegance. It may not be everyone's style, but was certainly interesting. Hard to score.

Atkin Chardonnay Comparative tasting (Lismore): (Tasted Blind): A pretty floral-infused nose brings intense stone fruits and toasty notes towards an immaculate, pure style that reminds me of Australia or even Chilean. On the palate, the wine has a creaminess and baked apple with raisin (fairly full MLF?), softness and exotic fruit that pointed towards Chile. Quite a modern style, the wine felt a little one-dimensional, and the oak feels a little too much. Despite this, the finish is long, there was a saline element (close to the sea?) and it was highly enjoyable - Errazuriz? Actualy SA!
