The pale red color belies the interesting bouquet, taste and finish. Tastes like a cross between a West Coast and Bourgogne Pinot Noir. Pleasant, but restrained aroma. Its strongsuit is the nicely-balanced taste and good finish. One of our favorites.

I really enjoyed this wine when it was released. It was a very good, light, inexpensive sipper with a distinctive "Calera" flavor...not the overly fruity, overripe flavors you get today. But this bottle was, for me, way past it's time, which makes sense as it was an inexpensive bottle meant to be enjoyed earlier. Still ruby in the glass, but with more burned orange colors toward the edges, this wine had a very oxidized nose with mushroom and forest floor followed by highly vegetal aromas, but no fruit. Taste was also oxidized, and "brown" if brown can have a flavor. Some sour cherry and alcohol predominate. Too bad I lost this bottle in the back of my cellar as it was a waste of a decent bottle to drink it this late.
