Smoky, toasty tropical fruit (pineapple, cherimoya) and golden apple with hawthorn, lemon zest, orange oil and lanolin. Impactful with zesty acidity and a slightly bitter citrus pith finish. An hour later, the wine is more seamless and finishes without the earlier bitterness. Stylistically, this reminds me of a high quality Saint Aubin of a similar age. A testament to the terroir and masterful winemaking of Jim Clendenen and his team at ABC.

Vineyard Gate single blind tasting of 7 chardonnays. Is this the ringer? Barnyard nose. Same flavor. Not my style. Not a Chardonnay(?). I correctly guessed this was an Au Bon Climat.
