Vinetasters: (mostly) 2010 Burgundy (Park Ridge, IL): Served double blind. Darker, black cherry quality with some funky oak notes here that don't really belong in pinot. Ungainly and heavyset, with a raisinated quality to the fruit. Definitely simple despite all the weight on the palate, and unpleasantly tannic either. Not surprised this is another dud of a 2005. My 12th, group's 12th.

Cork seepage to withing 5 mm of the surface. Purple hued salmon color. Very reticent, not much on the nose. Fallen decaying tree, black cherry mixed with cherry flavored Jolley Rancher, and a little minerality. Medium to light bodied, and medium acidity with slightly drying tannins. This bottle is barely mediocre.

Amazing and feels like it’s hitting the drinking window and will only get better for some time. Dark cherry, black fruit, incredible perfumed nose, chewy mouthfeel, long finish. Fantastic bottle.

Sweet cherry, less expressive than vintage and vineyard would suggest. Good, far from great.
