  • Thirty-third wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the twenty-second red wine. This is made up of 100% Shiraz by Johan Malan with fruit from a 19 year old vineyard in Stellenbosch. Aged for 17 months in new French oak barrels. Only 46 cases produced with 36 being auctioned in 2018.

Dark ruby red with garnet edges. Quite elegant with a punch on the nose, with notes of lavender, lilac, blackberries, wood and a touch of vanilla. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus to full bodied. Very dry on the palate with black dried berries, cedar and black olives. Long finish. Drink till 2026.
