  • Made from overripe grapes harvested partially raisined from the vine. Aged for approximately 36 months before release.

Somewhat hazy coppery color. Robust, nutty and pretty oxidative nose with somewhat understated aromas of roasted walnuts, browned banana, some developed smoky tones and a hint of hay. The wine is full-bodied, acid-driven and syrupy on the palate with somewhat oily mouthfeel and sweet flavors of maple syrup, molasses, dried figs, some roasted Moroccan spices, a little bit of oxidative nuttiness and a hint of sorrel. The wine is high in acidity. The finish is oily, pretty savory and quite tertiary with tangy flavors of toasted bread, roasted nuts, some dried dark fruits, a little bit of caramel and a hint of burnt sugar bitterness.

A complex and very aged dessert Verdicchio that has seen its fair share of oxygen. Overall the wine feels like it has been going downhill for some years and it isn't going to get any better from here. Shows great balance between sugary sweetness and racy acidity, but I doubt the wine performs as nicely as it must have some years ago. Time to drink up before the wine falls completely into pieces. Now still pretty enjoyable, but is nowhere near the stunning Frigidus 2003 tasted alongside.
