  • I was disappointed by this bottle, and based on other reviews it is probably an issue with the bottle rather than the label. It was unbalanced and very atypical for the grape and region. We’re I to have guessed blind I would have said some sort of oaked Sauvignon blanc from a cooler new world area, and not a particularly good one at that. Would like to try again.

  • Cracked and poured at fridge temp. This is ripe and ready now, rich and delicious. Canned pineapple and other tropical fruit on the nose, rich with good acidity on the palate. Fantastic!

  • Blind tasting:
The wine is clear, medium intense yellow wit a greene hue, developing

Nose is clean, medium intense aromas of lanolin, apples, white fruit, almond, a bit marzipan, peaches and Earl Grey, developing

Palate is dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, body, flavour intensity and medium + dry extract with aromas of red apples, grapefruit, peach, gunpowder like minerals, crushed almonds, white fruit, some roses, Earl Grey, long finish

The wine is well balanced, long finish with both fruit, minerals and acidity, medium intense, but almost medium+ because of the weight and acidity, deep complexity and solid concentration. Drink now and next 10 years, maybe more, very good quality, 90-91p

Cool climate, old world, based on aromas, structure I went straight to a Gruner veltliner from Austria on the nose, but after tasting it I actually believe it is a Roter Veltliner, much because of the almond/marzipan and the rose and weight of the wine and it is quite oily. So my answer is Roter Veltliner from Wachau in Austria from 2015, premium priced and possibly a more nature guided producer.
