I agree with (Cellar Tracker Member) - 'Aries' on this wine. Here I am 8 years after his post and I felt like his tasting notes were out of my bottle. Here is my only addition. My bottle was likewise re-corked (same label on the cork) and the only difference is that the wine needed 6 hours of decant to arrive at the point of mimicking his notes. IN the first few minutes out of the bottle the wine was sherry-like with bourbon aroma. then 6 hours later - BINGO ! Tasted alongside 10 other wines over a Thanksgiving Day dinner. The wines included La Jota 1996 & La Jota 2011, 1990 Opus One, 2012 Pott Vineyards The Arsenal, 1985 Masi Amarone, 2012 Outpost Cabernet (regular bottling), 1986 Monticello Vineyards Cabernet Corey Reserve, 2005 St Francis Anthem 2005, 2012 Whitehall Lane Cabernet (regular bottling) 2012, and 1997 Niebaum Coppola Rubicon

Wow, this is perhaps the greatest red wine I've had. This wine has been recorked at the winery (it says so on the side of the cork) and probably labeled at the same time as the bottle was pristine. Deep ruby red. On the nose this is a dry port with notes of raisin, leather, spices and cherries. On the palate, this is hard to believe this wine is 22 years old, the fruit has such an intensity and purity, this is amazing with some dark fruits, spices and just a bit of oak. Again, the balance is perfect with a finish over a minute long. I had this wine 3 years ago and it wasn't as great. Sadly this was my last bottle...

Light garnet in color with bricking on the edge. Big nose with plums, gingerbread, raisin, smoky oak. Amazingly port-like. Touch hot and a bit of magic marker. Massive palate with candied dried fruit, fruitcake. Builds to an enormous earth and dried plum finish with vanilla undertones. Layers upon layers of complexity.

It has only improved. Thanksgiving 2019.
Similar notes with far more sweet fruits which come through immediately. No decant and simply stated perfectly balanced.
