A lovely drinking Pinot. Extravagant nose and follows with quite a rich overt fruit profile but not overly so. In the context of US Pinot it’s relatively restrained. Somewhat simple maybe but a good drinking wine that’s easy to like and has good acidity and balance. Not as rich as many 2018 burgundies so has a nice place.

A beautiful and rather austere CA Pinot Noir. After some air, red fruits begin to show but the wine is less fruit oriented and more rustic in nature. An admirable drinkable experience.

The 2013 Pinot Noir Renaissance from Soliste is a total knockout in this vintage. The fruit comes from the Sonatera Vineyard and is aged 16 months in 25% new oak barrels. This takes some time to open up, but once it does, it releases pretty aromas of cherries, pomegranate, strawberry and raspberries, followed by dried leaf, earth and violets which all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate this wine is ultra-smooth, with remarkable focus and wonderful flavors of red fruit and dried herbs, underlined by a lovely touch of acidity which balances it out. Beautifully polished and caressing this is brilliant Pinot Noir should continue evolve beautifully over the nexr decade and beyond.
