  • Twenty-third wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the twelfth red wine. This is made up of 34% Cabernet Franc, 33% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon by Frans Smit from the Stellenbosch region. Aged for twelve months before blending and an additional twelve months before bottling. Only 114 cases produced with 50 being auctioned in 2018.

Deep garnet red in appearance. A bit mute on the nose with some light chalk, dusted cherries and some black cherries. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Dark berries on the attack of the palate with gravel and spices. Medium plus finish. Would be interesting to revisit in a few years. Drink from 2020 till 2028.
