Always loved this wine and great bottle to bring to a friendly dinner. It needs a little time to open up - PnP needs food with some bite in the wine but will open up to be quite smooth - typical of good Shiraz. 150 seems to the border where the Penfolds lineup really starts to shine and worth cellaring.

I'm glad I tried this wine now........it will get better though. Probably much better. But I wanted to taste it in the full vigour of youth. Plush violet and damson, deep redolent black fruit overlie a wonderful base structure of fine acidity and regulated oak. Badly done , this wine could be an unbalanced nightmare because the component parts are so strong. But Penfolds have done what they do and integrated competing parts to form a pretty impressive whole.
I liked it, which is saying something, as recently I have felt like Ebeneezer Scrooge in criticising and demeaning everything that crossed my path. So well done to the blenders at Penfolds for a job well done...

Thursday evening party in Singapore. Dark purple color. Cherry, pepper, mushrooms, earth, quite some heath and alcohol on the nose. Med acidity, full body, high alcohol, Med flavor intensity, Med finish, silky tannins. I have a bit of issue with the noticeably high level of alcohol, but overall the structure and balance is good, I like the fruitiness, and the underlying wet forest notes. Overall good, will try the next bottle in a couple of years!

A beautiful, lush Shiraz. Imperial purple in appearance, and such a fruity nose cased in a cigar box. Intensely pure Shiraz shines through here. Silky tannins complement the mocha and plum notes with a lingering finish that is accentuated by French Oak. A smooth operator, and one for the medium term.

Less spicy than other Barossa Shiraz, notes of sweet blueberries, sweet blackberries, more earthy and tannins very refined. Get out the steak for this Shiraz! 100% Shiraz from Marananga, Barossa. Aged in 16 months new and seasoned French and American Oak.
