  • Another excellent Tawse wine from the awful 2014 vintage. If you’ve got any of these in the cellar, drink up, it’s in a perfect spot.

The nose shows wonderful harmony with aromas bouncing from forest floor to cola to red currant and a hint of umami.

Very attractive in the mouth with fine tannins, fully integrated alcohol and plenty of acidity to keep the wine fresh.

Flavours show more oak influence with a nice blend of chocolate, cranberry, sour cherry and smoke.

    At peak. Drink now.

  • This cab franc is peaking right. Absolutely yummy with flavours of dark dried fruit giving it ripasso’ness.

  • 2014 Tawse Cabernet Franc Laundry Vineyard was elegant, perfumed and well-balanced. The developing Niagara Cabernet Franc was medium ruby in colour without any sediments. There were aromas of blackberry, redcurrant and violet, followed by pencil shavings, tobacco leaf and a hint of grilled bell pepper.

The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied, with medium-high level of focused acidity and medium level of grainy tannin. There were flavours of bramble, graphite, earth and stony minerality in a rather long cedery finish. The alcohol level was at 13.5%. As many as 10,700 bottles were produced.

The single vineyard bottlings of Tawse are among the best expressions of Niagara Cabernet Franc, in a style that resembles Loire Breton, like Chinon, Bourgueil and Saumur.

  • 2014 Tawse Cabernet Franc Laundry Vineyard was a typical expression of Niagara Cabernet Franc, with great interplay of red fruit, ceder and herbaceous complexities. It was clear and medium ruby in colour without any noticeable sediments. On the nose, there were aromas of raspberries, fresh red cherries, mint and liqourice, followed by pencil, violet and a touch of green bell pepper. On the palate, it was dry, medium-bodied, with medium level of well-integrated tannin and high level of fresh acidity. Flavours of ceder, graphite, earth, and stony minerality were present in a medium finish. It was a great example of Cabernet Franc from the cool-climate Niagara region, made in a style similar to Loire Chinon.

  • 3 days in Niagara; 1/4/2019-1/6/2019: Organic. Blueberry, cherry, red berries and some earth. Good savoury/sweet blend on the palate with cooler fruit and some herbal notes, flows well with texture and medium depth. Very nice wine.
