  • Anniversary dinner with Valerie and Meredith at Rat's...great food and corkage friendly place. Bought this at the PNV auction, in my cellar since. Slow oxed for about 30 minutes, splash decant after that, drank over 45 minutes.

Deep garnet/purple core, mild separation at the edge. Big nose right out of the gate, dark fruits, kirsch (?), cedar, earth notes and oak. Palate showing black cherry, cassis, dark plum, licorice. Tannins smoothed and sweetened...Full/medium body, long finish.

Rich To Kalon fruit really showing through. The ripeness of the nose would suggest a more viscous wine...to the contrary, this had an elegant texture - expressive palate but not over the top. In a great spot now, glad I opened it. While I believe this wine has a good life ahead of it, I think it will be at its best over the next 5 years.

PS - Attention fellow bus riders...open one of these now if you haven't had it yet!
