The first night it smelled of berry cobbler - all blue and dark berry fruits. Similar on the palate, pretty one sided. Two thirds of the bottle sat on the counter overnight under glass cork, opened a few hours before dinner and by that evening it was markedly better. Red plums and boysenberries - think the darker fruit end of the spectrum but brighter - balanced against cinnamon and cracked pepper, cocoa and a note of cold coffee. The wine has a brighter acidic quality that balances the fruit and warmth of the primary notes.
Syncline wines are well made but have become more fruit-centric so nice to see this bottle evolve into something with some more depth.

Strong blueberry, hay, brambly nose. Purple color, dark fruit on palate, medium-low tannins but chewy body and flavors that stood up to smoked brisket and sausage.

A well crafted Syrah with gorgeous fruit, spice and earth. As good as this is now, 3 to 5 years will serve it well.
