High-toned nose of currant, mulberry, and white pepper. Medium purple/ruby color. Initial flavor profile was acidic tannin, thin texture, light cherry/plum with a hot finish. With time, evolution of a spicy nose of anise/currant, and eventually, more floral characteristics of lavender, rose, with a touch of kirsch. Paired with home-made fried rice, the fat in the sausage and rice neutralized the acidity and an intriguing sweetness prevailed.

Last bottle. Pop & Poured. Long pristine cork. Clean cherry colour with watery edges. On the nose showed earthy, full of smoky notes of bitter cherries, forest floor and mushrooms bakery. Linear complexity anyway. In the mouth offers little depth but a nice acidity so what we've here is a balanced wine, pretty savoury yet short. Loyal reflect of its terroir, good but impersonal even at this level. Frenchies ...
Última botella. Descorchada y escanciada. Gabachitos ...

Actually improved since a year ago. Nose is stewed cherries and tobacco. On the palate, it is dry tannins but echoes the nose and finish is warm. While it definitely isn’t a youthful wine, it showed quite well against a 2008 Graves (Chateau Magence) tasted roughly simultaneously— this wine seemed more rounded on the palate and had more cinnamon notes. I don’t really like my burgundies at this stage, but I’d say this would be good with a dish with some fatty red meat.

I had this bottle about a year ago and the bottle I opened tonight is better-- but I think that's more bottle variation than the need for time. Very nice color. Wonderful nose of cherries, plum, and cumin. On the palate, the tannins far outweigh the fruit, the wine feels dry, and there are the cigar-box tastes that I associate with many wines that are over the hill. Certainly drinkable, especially with something with a lot of fat, but not great. I was expecting to age better because it is an '05 and largely fruit from Clos des Lambray. But I have to keep reminding myself that this is still classified as a village level wine, regardless of where some/most/all fruit came from. At that level, it's pretty darn good.

(Lambrays Morey St.Denis) A high-toned nose with a little sweet, red fruit. Sweet and ripe with plenty of acidity. Elegant with a long finish - this is a nice wine.

rather disappointing - simple wine with no development in the glass - really rather boring! drink up
