Opened before dinner but did not decant, and started drinking about 1.5 hours after other Napa cabs with friends. It was just starting to open up and you could taste it in your glass over time as well. Needs probably 3 hours in a decanter. Excellent wine. Would not have guessed Spring mountain as the earthiness present suggested valley floor...almost Bordeaux like but not quite. I get the pyrazine aspect from an earlier rating but it is slight and adds to the complexity and enjoyment for me anyway. Was very complimentary with our after dinner cheese and chocolate.

Tasted blind, and thought it was Bordeaux vs Super Tuscan. Slight pyrazine, suggesting cool mountain fruit, yet very concentrated, followed by intense minerality. Paired with grilled steak. SO good.

Decanted 2 hours. Notes of black tea, bing cherry, blackberry, and a bit of bramble. Very nice, but might be better with more cellaring.

Amazingly still quite young, plenty of tannins left. All afternoon breathe and finally opened up a bit more halfway through dinner. Textbook Napa Cab.
If I recall correctly, the winery chateau was featured in the 1980’s nighttime tv show Falcon Crest and the winery has been sold to a conglomerate
