Blind Barolo Bonanza - Pandemic Edition (Castle Pines): Is there a better way to complete a night of Barolo than with Chinato? I’ve never even seen a bottle of Bartolo Mascarello’s special elixir and yet, here it is. It’s like a blast of baked fruits, alpine herbs, mint, and holiday spice. A brilliant finish.
Beautiful herbaceous nose....mint seems to stand out amongst all the balsamic scents. On the palate this was very “smooth and silky”. The mint gives this a slight “after eight” dark chocolate taste. Spectacular - really enjoyed this as an aperitif

Really interesting wine. Some sweetness balanced with earthy, ashy qualities that reminded me quite a bit of Varnelli's Amaro dell'Erborista. Like port, amaro and bong water had a threesome and this was their beautiful love child.

White Truffle & 1971 Nebbiolo Dinner (Chez Goldberg, Greenwich Village, NYC): [Pop and pour.] Exotically perfumed with spice and red fruit. Warm and spicy in the mouth. Delicious. I wish this was more widely available.

1990 Barolo: Modern vs. Traditional (private home): Intensely herbaceous in the nose and mouth. Not for me.
