At N&Ts with a group of six. Paired w/a mag of Compte de Vogue Musigny. Tough comp as Musigny was singing. Color on Ech was a little cloudy but very nice nose and fresh finish. Held up very well.

decanted for a notable bit of powderey sediment into a small decanter; color remains youthful; interestingly, root beer & sarsaparilla float behind the expected cherry, also some beetroot that suggests greater maturity (?); at 2 hours, this is quite evocative aromatically; wonderful weight, stylish; out of the gate (& w/food), intense yet charming red - skinned fruit - cherry & plum, almost fruit confiture on puff pastry; this bottle shows more youthful than last year's w/espresso notes on the solid finish.
a bottle from the same case last year was more fun, not to diminish this one, just more structured tonight
confit guinea hen thighs; the ongoing corn & chanterelle experiment, sherry vinaigrette

Sublime aromas of roses and spice. A serious and beautiful wine, equal in quality to the best examples of Grands Echezeaux and Richebourg from this producer.

Last night this was amazing out of the gate. Expressive on the nose. Cherry fruit with lots of complexity and power. This faded a little with time. I got this bottle from Premier Cru so there is a chance it was a little advanced. Even given that it was stunning. Long finish. Excellent!
