Community Tasting Notes (15) Avg Score: 93 points

  • A bit too young, but with the premox problems associated with this region's very expensive whites it's hard not to want to consume them before the investment goes bad. Initially, my mouth was filled seashells and lemon rind. After the wine got more air, it settled down, rounded out and sweeter citrus and apple fruits emerged with some vanilla and a full mouthfeel. Last glass was the best. Score is for this youthful stage, but expect at least a couple points improvement in time. If this wine can avoid premox issues over the next 4 to 7 years, I suspect an even more intriguing wine will emerge in the 95+ range.

  • This is at this stage extremely delicate and nuanced, but still far too reticent (or: too demanding on the drinker's attention) for such a fantastic terroir. Fresh oily texture, with alternating layers of white or yellow peach, jasmine and honeysuckle; suggestions of citrus and, equally refreshingly, some white pepper. Very good, if discreet, length. This just needs more time to add weight and expand more generously on all of the above. 2028+ 94-95

  • From magnum, reductive nose, a bit short on intensity on the palate

  • Territoriet. Flott nese. Blek strågul(?)

Litt eik på nesen, fokusert dybde. Noe lakris/anis/salvie.

Balansen er flott der syren bærer en dyp intens konsentrert fruktsødme. Sitonsyre med noe mer intenst krydret nesten som Vosne er for pinot. Lang. Fokusert og syredrevet fremfor altfor rik. Herlig.

  • Perhaps it’s on a dumb phase but this vintage of Pucelles isn’t showing much at this point. Normal youthful color and good intensity but the alcohol is showing which is very unusual for Leflaive. It’s sappy and seems to be concentrated but what fruit there is, is hiding. You can drink it, and it’s still better than a lot of California Chardonnay, but there should be more there.
