A blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Savignon Blanc and Viogner. Bouquet of waxy tropical fruit with smoke scents, on the palate lemon, almonds, peach, citrus, white nectarine, touch of herbs and chenin smokiness. Skin contact tannin and medium acidity. Fermentation in French oak lends this roundness and a tad soft texture, bit of a crowd pleaser style which makes this easy to approach.

A private lunch (Pop-up restaurant Asperges in ‘t Veld, Cromvoirt, NL): A blend of 39% Chenin Blanc, 34% Sauvignon Blanc, 14% Viognier and 13% Chardonnay, aged in seasoned French oak, 13% ABV. Good weight of ripe fruit with a lovely complexity (cantaloupe melon, peach, lemon, strawberry, gooseberry), well balanced by soft but fresh acidity, judicious oak adds smoke and a sense of seriousness, and there is nice mineral energy on the finish, which displays apricot bitters, good definition and length. A complete package, mouthfilling but with elegance and energy.

Nutty, waxy, high acidity, green stems, celery, quite savory. Will probably develop in a more nuanced direction.
