I have nothing to compare this to, having never had an Australian Pinot Noir. It is definitely different from US Pinot. Big fruit but not over the top. Pleasant drinker.

Australian Wine Far from Ordinary Trade Tasting, San Francisco, nose of sweet and sour fruit, same on the palate, rich fruit, lovely fruit, mouth filling fruit, nice juice.

Mostly red berry fruit such as strawberry/cranberry/bitter cherry (the acidity was there, but not super tart), with a velvety liqeur-like texture and a good dose of oak spice which gave a it a slightly dark sweetness, almost like a boysenberry syrup or maybe fig newton cookies. However it had an extra layer of complexity in its subtly peppery, earthy, almost funky quality. Truly delicious and I think fairly unique amongst pinot noir in the price range (around $40)- not the most complex or addictive ever but in the upper echelon of sub-$50 pinot noir. Can’t compare to other Aussie Pinot as it’s my first, but it falls somewhere in between a fruity, oak-spiced new world style and a faintly earthy Burgundian one.
