Bottled circa 1980 (I think). The short plastic-capped cork crumbles at the slightest touch. The wine is clear (not cloudy), with little sediment. The colour is a very dark brown, with hints of red and orange.
Nose of walnut liqueur and heavy, dark wood, with a hint of varnish. Notes of date and nutmeg. Intense palate, with syrupy sugar kept in check by strong alcohol. Rich, strong flavours of blood orange, walnut, and almond. Nose and palate are very advanced, but show no signs of oxidation. It tastes nothing like Sauvignon Blanc, but it's delicious.
