Good but better on the second night. I love Mourvèdre and this has enough varietal spice and dryness to keep me coming back for more. Too drop QPR! Eperosa fan after this and a 2017 magnolia Shiraz.

Brett had a few fermentation issues in 2016 in the new winery and rather than bottle everything as per normal, he sold off what was deemed not Eperosa worthy and de-classified the best remaining barrels into a single wine called meld. At mid-20 schmackers it is real value. It is deep and dense with black fruits playing on a chalky base. There’s plenty of spice and a finish that has good tannic chew.

Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): A challenge behind this wine. The winery had just moved into their new digs right at the beginning of harvest and something happened with some of the fermentation and so while generally the winemaker does 6 different bottlings this year he just did this one. It's a combination of the best barrels across the board. Ended up being 41% Mataro, 32% Grenache and 27% Shiraz. Lots of red currents and red berries and again that really lovely spice note. Black and white pepper. There's a juiciness to this wine that I really like. Again very fresh. Very nice.

2 weeks in Australia with a stopover in Singapore; 6/14/2019-7/1/2019 (Singapore, Sydney, Adelaide, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills): Tasted at the winery. 2016 was a tough year for Brett as he trouble in the new winery with his native fermentations getting stuck. He took what was usable and created this blend which he named MELD - 41% Mataro, 33% Grenache and 26% Shiraz. The nose is dark fruited and herbaceous. Opens with sweet red fruit, followed by cracked black pepper and dusty tannins on the grippy finish. Interesting.
