  • Burnt Hill Summer Solstice Festival (Clarksburg, Maryland): Crushable, punchy, juice, nice floral, spice, tea elements. Has dashed of Petite Manseng and Riesling in it. Pretty cool stuff.

  • Pale garnet, hazy.

Nose: Healthy dose of cola runs parallel to a black currant, blackberry bramble, some light beef fat and dried leaves.

Mouth: Smooth, juicy core of light, sweet dried strawberry and cranberry and violet come together on a supple frame, ushering in light acid and a chalky finish of gravel and dried leaf lingering against various pepper and clove notes. These midpalate/finish notes are larger than the sum of their parts: lipsmacking in all and a lot of fun to pick up and down.

Overall: Funky and off beat but showing commitment to quality. Fruit forward and easy on the one hand, but wanting to take you somewhere else on the other. If you're bored of the usual and looking for a trip, don't hesitate to pick this up. 97% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Menseng, 1% Riesling.

    91.
