PNP initially tannic but with some air this softened. Lots of power concentration and structure but still very primary and tight at this evolution. This wine has lots of potential but needs a lot more time in the cellar. 92-94 point potential. Try again in 4-5 years

White Burgundy Dinner (Asia Grand): Blinded. Remains of a bottle opened 3 days ago. Pale ruby, pronounced aromas of red cherry, strawberry and game. Savory and meaty on the palate with long bluberry like finish.

White Burgundies at Asia Grand: Generous leftover two-day old sample. Thought 2017 Gevrey from a good producer. Seductive, earthy nose, had such silky tannins, concentration and transparency that only the best makers can achieve. Surprised at the reveal since I had the impression Barthod wines took forever to come around, but this was a few days old from a more approachable vintage.

A private dinner with a friend (Restaurant De Lage Vuursche, Lage Vuursche, NL): So tight and bright and crisp, cherries and raspberries, touch of undergrowth, citrus, hint of sweet oak, cool minerality, huge energy, flowers and rosehip, long and layered finish. A model of elegance and precision. The complete opposite of the Beaux Bruns 2018 tasted (and drank) in December 2021. Marvellous already, but really needs ten years to unfold.

2nd encounter of this wine. Breif note by glass only last time. This time slowoxed 6hrs, observed and enjoyed over 2 days.
Seductive fragrant potpourri, arrays of bright red berries, sour cherries, English tea, wet stone, underbush, cool soil mingling with subtle sweet and smoky sandalwood. Grainny ripe tannins, mid weight, multifacets delicious complexities on mid palate all express in an airy and tranparent feminine style. Already charming now, it would be rewarding to see how it evoles after a few years.
This 2017 is an old school elegant Burg that is so lovable.
