  • From Emiliana's solid, value-oriented Novas range of organic wines, this is very much a cool-climate style of Cabernet from the Maipo Valley, a fairly acidic expression with lifted aromas of plum, cherry, raspberry, cranberry, and cassis, along with some spice, smoke, and a light woodsy note. There also seems to be some citrus, a lemony note, which forms on the nose and builds out on the palate alongside a cran-cherry core. A bit more aging might reduce the acidity somewhat, and perhaps also allow the riper fruit to challenge the tarter fruit, and, indeed, time in the open brings additional notes like vanilla, leather, menthol, along with dried fruit like prune, though the baseline tartness remains. And, sure, the tannins could still soften a bit with more aging, but this seems to be what it is, and there's certainly complexity and approachability even now.
