  • I wasn't expecting much from this wine but what a delight! Lovely, fresh vibrant fruit with an unctuous flavours of raisins, caramel, nuts and candied fruits.

  • I used to love Boplaas tawny -- it was the one shining example among non-Portuguese produced Port that tasted like the real deal. Unfortunately, Boplaas seems to have stopped producing a quality Port that's consistent with the tawny style and they're making a sweet dessert wine in its place. This isn't a bad wine, but it is far from a tawny port. More bright acidity and general sweetness than it should have. NOTE: Boplaas doesn't distinguish their vintages, bottling dates or special editions through the use of distinct bottles or labels; this Cape Tawny only had a 2017 Platter's sticker applied post-production to set it apart from others.
